Wyndrum Avenue
The existing house is an attractive early 1940’s Art Deco/Moderne state house, but it has poor planning especially for modern living. With the client wanting a bigger house we undertook a design exercise that looked at where the house should be extended, where the outdoor living spaces should be and how could we get the house to function better.
We then looked at how the house could be upgraded, using the Passive House Enerphit standard, to be more comfortable, healthy and energy efficient than a typical new house. There is an urgent need for deep or significant upgrades to the thermal efficiency of our existing buildings. This is needed to mitigate the climate crisis while also improving the comfort and health of inhabitants and future proofing the owner’s investment.
