Bell House
This design is a response to an unusual site. It’s a steep site with virtually no flat ground. Half of the site is reserved with several council drains bisecting the site. A third of the site is a stand of Kanuka. The house is sited on the sliver of land in between. Rather than dig into the site, this house floats above, envisaged as a land yacht sailing through the tree tops.
The house is Certified Passive House, providing an ultra-low energy building with excellent thermal comfort and indoor air quality. Its construction uses a range of innovative techniques. Walls and roof use structural insulated panels (SIPS). High quality European style windows, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery and careful detailing will provide exceptional airtightness, comfort and ventilation.
